SG's history

SG Armaturen was established by businessman Sven Gunvaldsen in 1990. He was in the business of selling lamps, but decided to invest in his own production of lighting solutions. Gunvaldsen sold his lamp-selling business and embarked on what was to become a Norwegian industrial adventure.

Production

SG Armaturen wants to contribute to a society that takes people and the environment seriously, and wants to create long-term value. We make quality products that last a long time and provide energy-efficient lighting. Our designers work actively to reduce material consumption in products and packaging, and increasingly utilise recycled materials. We generate our own electricity on the roof of our head office, and we endeavour to choose the means of transport that produce the lowest possible emissions.

How has SGs market presence developed over the years?

At the start, the company had one employee and one product for sale. SG Armaturen has since evolved to become one of the largest luminaire manufacturers in the Nordic countries, with close to 700 employees in the Group. Innovation and growth are in the DNA of SG Armaturen. The company currently has 22,000 square metres of office and warehouse space in Lillesand, Norway, and has sales divisions in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Benelux, France, Germany, Austria, and more. SG Armaturen owns two factories: one in Odense, Denmark, and the other in Dongguan, China.

How does SG work with quality?

SG's products are developed by skilled engineers and industrial designers at our design departments in Lillesand and Odense. SG Armaturen's products have a minimum warranty of five years against manufacturing defects. The guarantee applies from the documented installation time, when installing an authorized fitter according to our instructions for use. We take complaints very seriously.

Test center
All our luminaires are tested and checked at our in-house test facilities in Odense. The products undergo strict quality control and comply with all applicable European standards and safety regulations.
