A hybrid network is an installation in which both SG Smart 3.0 and previous-generation SG Smart devices are used at the same location. With the SG Smart Gateway, an existing SG Smart system can be continued alongside new SG Smart 3.0 devices without having to replace the entire installation at once. The gateway must be connected to both systems so that features can be used across generations. The phone can also control both systems when it is within range, but the gateway is the foundation of the hybrid network.

A hybrid network requires SG Smart Gateway 820822

For the hybrid network to function, the gateway must be able to communicate with both SG Smart 3.0 and previous-generation SG Smart devices. The gateway must therefore be placed and configured so that it can communicate with both systems.

Shortcuts can be used across generations.

Actions can be used across generations.

Both systems can be controlled via Matter.

For example, the home/away function can be used across generations. SG Smart Switch 3.0 and SG Smart Switch from previous generations can control shortcuts in the same location.

Using actions, a component in SG Smart 3.0 can control a component among previous-generation SG Smart devices, and vice versa. For example, an older On/Off 3000VA can be controlled by a newer component with a countdown function.
