Project description

Aarhus University Hospital, AUH, is one of Denmark's newest hospitals. The oldest buildings have been in use since the late 1980s, and with daily, intensive wear and tear, the installations have reached repair age. The energy properties also no longer live up to today's standards.

Among other things, this meant that almost 3,000 lighting fixtures in wards, meeting rooms, kitchens, storage rooms and toilets etc. had to be replaced. "This was carried out according to a carefully coordinated plan in which it was a high priority that operations at the hospital were disrupted as little as possible," explains Ina Rødtnes Withus, project manager and engineer at AUH.

Lighting solution

The cornerstone of AUH's lighting renovation is the Multi Concept system luminaire from manufacturer SG Armaturen. As a modular design, it can easily be adapted to different applications and architectural environments. 1,100 presence sensors ensure that light is only switched on where it is needed.

Planning, flexibility and good will made it possible to renovate the lighting at Aarhus University Hospital while treating patients.

One of the challenges of working on large projects in a busy hospital environment is logistics. There is no space to store the many luminaires, so Riktig Lys and SG Armaturen have continuously adapted the delivery to the relevant stages of the renovation work. At the same time, the luminaires are packed in material-saving packaging to reduce the amount of waste.
