Project description
Buff Medical Resort is located on Lake Constance in Konstanz, Germany. The center offers preventive healthcare, treatment, and wellness in surroundings characterized by natural materials and large glass surfaces. The building was designed by the architectural firm Pablo Horváth and realized by Rebholz Architekten, with extensive use of certified wood.
The project combines treatment rooms and guest rooms with a restaurant, fitness areas, and a large spa area featuring indoor and outdoor pools. The various functions of the rooms place high demands on the lighting, which must provide good working conditions for the staff while also creating a pleasant atmosphere for guests.
SG Leuchten GmbH supplied the lighting for the project in close collaboration with the building owner, Hans-Jürg Buff, and Mundinger Elektrotechnik from Bad Dürrheim, which served as the electrical contractor.
Lighting solution
The lighting solution combines general lighting, accent lighting, and task lighting. The lighting is integrated into the architecture and highlights wood, shapes, and materials. In the reception area and common areas, round fixtures and indirect lighting contribute to a warm and inviting atmosphere. In the spa area, the lighting emphasizes the rooms’ organic shapes, while the treatment rooms feature lighting tailored to both the staff’s work tasks and the guests’ comfort.
Among the luminaires used are Sense Pro Round, Disc, Soft Slim Gold, and Jupiter Pro Soft. Lineal Surface is used in the seminar rooms. Tube Micro R is used by the beds, while StripLine provides indirect lighting in guest rooms, along windows, and on balconies. Artes and Frame Round are used outdoors.
The lighting is controlled via a DALI system, which allows for individual dimming of the fixtures and selection of preset lighting scenes. In the guest rooms, the lighting can be adjusted via control panels by the beds. Motion sensors activate subdued orientation lighting at night and provide soft lighting transitions in the hallways.
