Evolabel technology company

Project description

More and more companies are realising the benefits of investing in modern lighting solutions, which not only provide light but can also function as part of the interior decor. In addition to the design of the luminaires, the ability to control the light can also help create a pleasant and sustainable working environment. Evolabel, the technology company, has invested in luminaires by SG Lighting for its newly renovated premises in Mölndal.

Since it was founded seventeen years ago, the Swedish company Evolabel has grown into one of the world’s largest suppliers of labelling equipment. Its customers are in the packaging industry, for which it develops, manufactures and sells various types of label printers and applicators. All manufacturing takes place in Mölndal, while the customers are located all over the world.

“There’s high demand for our products, and we’re growing rapidly. That was why we had to renovate and optimise our premises to accommodate more employees. Today, we have about 40 employees and 15 consultants working at our premises,” says Kristina Bodin, Evolabel office manager.

A pleasant workplace

The company owns the entire property, which is approximately 6,000 square metres spread over three floors. It includes production facilities, a warehouse, a showroom, offices, a gym and meeting rooms.

Arijana Krnjic is the brand manager at Evolabel, and was in charge of the interior design of the newly renovated premises.

“We wanted spaces that are open and inviting, where both employees and visitors can meet. That’s why we built a large staircase and a gallery between the first and second floors to create a social meeting place and at the same time promote proximity between the office and production employees,” says Arijana Krnjic.

Smart and sustainable

Takorama Elteknik has enjoyed ongoing collaboration with Evolabel for several years.

“Since Evolabel purchased the property a couple of years ago, we’ve gradually been improving and modernising it. Their goal is to have a smart and sustainable building with the ability to control everything from lighting and alarms to ventilation. When it came to lighting, we recommended SG Lighting because we believe they have high-quality products and always provide us with good service,” says Fredrik Melander of Takorama Elteknik.

Lighting solution

Ability to change the colour temperature of the lighting

First to be addressed was the lighting in the production hall, where 90 Arena luminaires from SG were installed. The next project concerned the upstairs office area of approximately 300 square metres. Here, they worked playfully with colour and form in the different rooms.

“We wanted the lighting to do justice to the interior, so I visited SG and together with their sales rep Magnus Aspling and lighting designer Sandra Beijer went through their range to see which luminaires could be suitable. Among our requirements for the lighting was that it should be DALI-controlled, and there should be the option to adjust the light’s colour temperature during the day (tunable white) in the offices and conference rooms,” says Arijana Krnjic.

Sandra Beijer received drawings and other materials, as well as a 3D model of the premises, to develop a luminaire proposal and perform lighting calculations.

“We used our Evo lighting software to ensure that all the lighting requirements were met by the luminaires we chose. I also produced visualisations as inspiration for the customer. We were given good data and Evolabel were clear about what they wanted. This helped the project to run very smoothly,” says Sandra Beijer.

Stylish and functional

The lighting solution included luminaires such as Lineal Surface, a slim ramp luminaire with a modern design forming a line of light in the premises. The offices also have recessed Sense TW LED panels of various sizes, the Disc 480 TW ceiling fixture, and Nano, Nano Tilt and Junistar IsoSafe TW downlights. With the help of sensors and the control system, the lighting is turned off automatically after a certain time if there is no one in the room, and you can also choose only to turn on certain sections. The refurbished premises opened in early March and, after the summer, Evolabel equipped even more rooms with SG luminaires.

“The lighting has turned out both stylish and functional, and we’re very pleased with the way all parties worked together,” says Arijana Krnjic.
