JYSK Arena is located in Silkeborg and is best known as the home of the professional handball teams Bjerringbro-Silkeborg and Silkeborg-Voel.
JYSK Arena has been renovated in terms of size, facade, signage, flooring, stands and not least lighting. In terms of lighting, the project was about saving energy in the hall and the adjacent rooms. In addition, a number of lighting requirements were defined for the hall due to TV broadcasts of handball matches.
The choice fell on Arena Sport from SG Armaturen, partly because of its high lumen output, but also because of its price and quality.
Finding a good compromise between energy consumption and light quality was crucial for the client. The theoretical calculations showed a lumen output of more than 22,000 lumens per Arena Sport with an output of 156 W, which in turn resulted in a favorable payback period.

Lighting solution
The new luminaires were to replace the existing luminaires for T5 tubes and continue to use the existing raceways and luminaire rows, so that no money would be spent on establishing additional or new luminaire rows.
However, there were some challenges with the regularity of the floor when the luminaires were installed, which we could not see from the lighting calculation. This was solved very professionally by SG by adapting lenses and optics in the luminaires.

162 luminaires with 4x80W T5 and 8 luminaires with 8x80W T5 were dismantled. These were replaced with 98 LED luminaires with 176W and 68 LED luminaires with 81W. Together with this and the new KNX lighting control, we have a brand new lighting system that meets the functionality requirements we set for professional sports, theater and other general use.
The work with Arena Sport from SG has been trouble-free both in terms of the suspension method and the installation in fixed clamps.
