Project description
Margarinfabrikken kindergarten at Bjølsen in Oslo is Norway's largest kindergarten with room for 500 children. The kindergarten consists of two buildings, the old building and the new building. The older part is a former margarine factory that has been rehabilitated and adapted to today's needs. Together, the buildings form a modern and varied kindergarten environment with a total of 26 bases and a number of special rooms. Among other things, the building houses a theater and drama room, arts and crafts room, gymnasium, climbing room, mediatek and water play room. In addition, the nursery has a large and varied outdoor area with several zones for play and activity. The project therefore places high demands on functionality, robustness and energy efficiency in all technical installations.
SG Armaturen has supplied complete lighting for both buildings and all outdoor lighting. The project was carried out in collaboration with Installatøren Oslo as the executing electrician, and with Oslobygg as the developer. The system has been completed and handed over to a satisfied customer.
The project is also part of a larger collaboration between SG Armaturen and Installatøren Oslo, where in the fall of 2025, lighting was delivered to 44 kindergartens in Oslo within eight weeks. All the projects were fully installed and handed over.
Lighting solution
As a smart solution, the kindergarten has installed SG Connect, which is SG Armaturen's own wireless lighting control solution for commercial buildings and larger projects. The solution makes it possible to control the luminaires flexibly and energy-efficiently, with functions such as motion detection and daylight control, which adapt the light level to activity and natural light. The lighting solution is designed to provide good and safe lighting conditions throughout the day, adapted to the children's activities and needs.
Disc 480 and Disc 290, Sense Pro and Sense Surface are used in bases and common areas. In stairwells, Lineal Surface is used, which is mounted parallel to the stairs. Hurdal is used in toilets above mirrors. Stripline RGBW is used in the theater hall. This allows for colors and stage lighting that support the room's function and create a more playful expression. In the climbing room and activity room, Arena Sport is used, which is a ball-proof and robust luminaire. All the luminaires used indoors are supplied with Connect. Outdoors, StripLine Outdoor has been used on footbridges and in roof superstructures. Wax helps to provide good spatial lighting in play areas, and Place illuminates walkways inside the kindergarten area.
The solution was developed in close collaboration between SG Armaturen, Installatøren Oslo and Oslobygg to ensure a comprehensive and functional lighting solution for the project.
